DIG Nawaraj Silwal taken in police custody

Apr 24, 2017- A police team deployed from the Nepal Police headquarters on Monday has taken Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nawaraj Silwal in custody.SSP Sarbendra Khanal, spokesperson of the Nepal Police, said that DIG Silwal was apprehended for investigation into the case in which he was accused of forging performance evaluation form.DIG Silwal was holding legal consultation with senior advocate Sambhu Thapa at the latter’s residence in Baluwatar when police apprehended him this morning.They are holding talks at the chamber of DIG Bajaya Bhatta, a member of a probe committee formed by the Nepal Police headquarters to look into the allegation that DIG Silwal forged the performance evaluation form before submitting it to the Supreme Court in a case of seniority during the inspector general appointment, at the Nepal Police headquarters. The committee was formed on Sunday.The headquarters on Sunday wrote to the committee to begin its probe, without setting a timeframe to submit its report.
